* Teachers are constantly searching for new ways to engage students in learning. One effective way to teach social studies is with the use of historical graphic novels.

* Graphic novels are stories told through both text and pictures through panels like comic books. They come in many genres, including non-fiction and historical novels.

* Why use graphic novels? They are a great way to motivate reluctant readers, and help struggling readers by using visual context clues. They also improve reading skills and vocabulary. The stories in graphic novels are just as complex as text novels, just in a different format. Learners come in all shapes, and so should literature.

* This website serves as a resource guide for parents and educators looking to use graphic novels in the classroom. Click on the green tabs above to learn more and to find a list of books appropriate for use in the elementary level classroom!
